Prison Break
Prison Break – Counties across California are taking on responsibility for thousands of non-violent felons as part of Gov. Jerry Brown’s public safety realignment plan. The plan aims to reduce overcrowding in state prisons and trim the state budget, but to do that county jails and local law enforcement must pick up the slack. This short documentary, a co-production of KQED-TV San Francisco and The Center for Investigative Reporting, examines what’s going on inside jails and out on the streets under this unprecedented overhaul of the criminal justice system.
