I work as a student assistant for the state, monitoring waste water and review reports from my cube. I was wondering is random drug testing illegal in california for a workin in my position?
if anyone can find any documentation on this; stating if it is or is not illegal would be nice thank you

Not illegal. Especially if you have a code of conduct prohibiting use of drugs and alcohol while at work. It may not be normal to test people in your position … but, as a betting man I bet they could use it if they noticed something they dod not like!
