My Brother Is Dating a Pregnant Woman?

Question by Melissa: My Brother is Dating a Pregnant Woman?
My brother, who is 28 years old, has always stressed that he’ll never meet the right girl and even fears he’ll never have any children.

He has been in 2 serious relationships, one girl was very career driven and made it clear she didn’t want children until later in life. The other woman he dated had huge drug problems, so it’s no wonder (thank heavens) she never fell pregnant.

I found out today he is now dating a woman who he met a few weeks ago — who is 5 months pregnant — the child isn’t his (obviously as he only met her 2 weeks ago).

Drug Addicted Family Member?

Question by Blundt Cake: Drug addicted family member?
How do you help someone who refuses to help themselves, even when they are in/out of jail, homeless, jobless, in denial, and don’t think they have a problem???? What do you do? Especially if they call from jail saying they’re being beat up, and then when out on bail, they say they are sleeping on a park bench, wandering around, not eating?
But still say they don’t have a drug problem, they just need “help” (money, car, housing) and say they’ve only used drugs a few times in the last couple of months, like that’s a good thing.
(and this repeats year after year)

What Drug Is Used to Treat Oxycontin Addiction Recovery?

Question by zigzagg11: What drug is used to treat oxycontin addiction recovery?

Best answer:

Answer by stascia
depends on how bad the addiction is.

if the addiction was very severe, some places are using methadone treatment, which is normally reserved for heroin addicts (but since heroin and oxycontin are both opiates it works as well). methadone treatment involves going to a clinic everyday and getting a dose of methadone, which is an opiate itself. it is a lighter, less addictive opiate and gives a person a ‘buzz’ just like any other opiate. however, the dose of methadone, over time, is decreased, and the addict gets less and less of the drug. this type of treatment cuts down on all the crappy side effects of opiate withdrawal, such as DTs, hallucinations, auditory disturbances and etc.

Why Do Substance Abuse Treatment Programs Include the Usage of Drugs?

Question by darian f: Why do substance abuse treatment programs include the usage of drugs?
Why do people who are undergoing rehabilitation have to use the likes of methadone? I’ve always thought that it was just abstaining from the illegal drug, as well as counseling and therapy, that is needed for addiction treatment.

Medication is very important for someone who wants to abstain from using drugs. When a person does illegal drugs, the drug makes changes within the body and the brain. Medication such as methadone helps in restoring the body and brain back to its healthy, natural state. It also represses withdrawal symptoms and relieves the patient of the craving for the illegal drug. This way, it makes recovery easier for the patient and lessens the chances of having a relapse.
