DON”T DO IT

Methamphetamine (sometimes referred to as methylamphetamine or desoxyephedrine) is a psychostimulant drug used primarily for recreational purposes (under the street-name crystal meth), but is sometimes prescribed for Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy under the brand name Desoxyn. It causes euphoria and excitement by acting directly on the brain’s reward mechanisms, thus making it highly addictive. Methamphetamine rapidly enters the brain and causes a cascading release of norepinephrine and dopamine (and to a lesser extent, serotonin). Users may become obsessed or perform repetitive tasks such as cleaning, hand-washing or assembling and disassembling objects. Withdrawal is characterized by increased sleeping and eating, and depression-like symptoms, often accompanied by anxiety and drug-craving.

Doctors/Med Professionals: Should Illicit Drug Users Get Free Medical Treatment?

Question by JDA: Doctors/Med Professionals: Should illicit drug users get free medical treatment?
I want to know what the medical profession thinks. Please note, I’m from Australia (where there is universal healthcare)

I know many out in the community abuse illicit drugs because of life circumstances- they have mental issues, take heroin, wind up in prostitution to pay for it, then need the heroin to cope with the prostitution.
Or perhaps veterans who didn’t receive adequate psychological care have PTSD and then take illicit drugs to cope day to day.
Or even those whose chronic pain only responds to marijuana.

I’ve been suffering from anxiety and depression since I was 5 years old, off and on. I’m 18 now. They are both back now, worst than ever. I just recently started smoking weed for my chronic migraines, anxiety and depression. If I go to the doctor for it will be drug test me? If so, what kind?

Georgia State Probation?

Question by Tammy B: georgia state probation?
I understand that a person must follow the rules once placed on probation. But my son was placed on intense probation in Lowndes County, for 8 years for meth use. He was not ever drug tested, nor had a home visit in 11 months. Now he has been arrested again, with less than $ 1.00 street value of meth, and is going to be sentenced to 9 years in prison, as well as having probation revoked. His probation officer(former police officer) is not willing to let him enter rehab, then go to prison. What is a person to do in this situation. He has a good lawyer who see’s the probation mess up as not a real issue to address! [email protected]

How Has Horse Racing Changed in the Years Since Ruffian’s Death?

Question by Starlight 1: How has horse racing changed in the years since Ruffian’s death?
This might sound like a gruesome question at first glance, but it’s not intended to be. With the 40th anniversary of Ruffian’s ill fated match race approaching in 2015, I am interested in getting a discussion going about racing as a whole- how it’s changed, how it hasn’t, differences between today’s racing climate and the one that existed 40 years ago, and so forth. I want to hear what people think. How has racing changed? Is it safer or more dangerous? Do you feel that the industry as a whole has learned anything in the decades since the match race took place? Are there lessons from the match that are still applicable to racing in the modern age?
