Does Drug Addiction Run in Your Family?

Question by babyphatlove0707: Does Drug Addiction Run In Your Family?
Hey all, I was sitting here wondering about drug and alcohol addicted people and their children. They say that if your parent’s are/were addicts than you are considerably more likely to become one as well.
Do you guys agree?
Do you have anyone in your family that is/was addicted to something? Do you think it made you or someone else in your family become an addict, too, just by being related?

In my family it turns out that it was true for us. Lot’s of alcoholics in my family, and it sort of passed down through the ages.

What Drug Is Used to Treat Oxycontin Addiction Recovery?

Question by zigzagg11: What drug is used to treat oxycontin addiction recovery?

Best answer:

Answer by stascia
depends on how bad the addiction is.

if the addiction was very severe, some places are using methadone treatment, which is normally reserved for heroin addicts (but since heroin and oxycontin are both opiates it works as well). methadone treatment involves going to a clinic everyday and getting a dose of methadone, which is an opiate itself. it is a lighter, less addictive opiate and gives a person a ‘buzz’ just like any other opiate. however, the dose of methadone, over time, is decreased, and the addict gets less and less of the drug. this type of treatment cuts down on all the crappy side effects of opiate withdrawal, such as DTs, hallucinations, auditory disturbances and etc.

Court Mandated Drug Rehab Programs?

Question by hummingbird: court mandated drug rehab programs?
So i was researching programs that might have involuntarily inpatient rehab centers for my mom. Mostly because i had heard someone talking about how they got their son in law to go to rehab only by having these people take him by force and that he was all better now and so forth bragging about how good it did for him. So i thought this would be great for my mom so ive done some research and chatted online with operators. Come to find out that there is no such thing[ had sounded way too good to be true from the beginning.] Now he did tell me that I can go to my local court house/ clerks office and ask to get a mandated court order or something of that nature. He went onto telling me that i would need another person to sign with me but didnt explain more of what i would need or how the process goes about. Any info or suggestions.?
